With Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funding, Jowitt and Redding are leading a project to showcase the 'wooden world' of an early modern ship through a short animated film. The film will document a rat's perspective of life on the Gloucester in the last hour before the ship sank. The script is written by UEA Literature, Drama and Creative Writing MA Scriptwriting students and the animation is voiced by UEA Drama students.

Telling the story from a rat's viewpoint enables audiences to see the ship's inner workings in intimate detail. The colourful and vibrant animation is designed to engage children and adults alike in the rat's adventures.

From Spring 2027, the film will be shown at Time & Tide Museum of Great Yarmouth Life. It will also be included in the National Lottery Heritage Fund supported augmented reality maritime-themed heritage walks that the team are developing with partners in Great Yarmouth for launch in 2028.
